Walk-In Interview:
Venue: Main Hall, AA Academy
Date: 17th April 2010 (Saturday)
Registration: 9.00a.m – 4.00p.m
.

.
Right, I will start off with the PROCESS and Step by Step that you are going to go through when you go for AA’ s cabin crew walk-in-interview.
DAY 01
1. Once you reach, you will see MANY cars parked along-side the road. So if you’re driving, don’t worry about the parking. Later on, you will need to queue with hundreds of other applications while filling up the application form STANDING! (remember to bring your own pen)
2. Slowly you will be led to get your weight and height measured (min 157cm for females and 170cm for males).
3. Then they will check your SPM and other relevant certificates (remember to bring original cert).
4. Once you pass the verification of your certs, you will be given your number written on a sticker which you will stick on your left.. and the waitings begin……
5. 10 by 10 applications will be called up and led to a Catwalk Room. Here you will need to perform a catwalk one by one while 2 interviewers will be ogling at you from head to toe (don’t worry so much about the catwalk- just walk normally). What they look for when you are doing your catwalk is how you look like and if you have scars on your body, if you look pleasant and if your smile is bright enough (remember to smile to the max to prove urself! it’s NOW or NEVER!).
6. Then the 2 interviewers will ask you to hold out your hands for them to check for scars.. and they will ask you to turn around to see if you have scars on your legs.. if you have a fringe on your forehead, they will ask you to lift up your fringe for them to check for scars.
7. Next, the 2 interviews will hand you an announcement card in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. They will randomly pick either one language and ask you to read it out. Here they will be testing you if you can speak clearly and fluently (don’t get too nervous or panic, just read clearly and with normal speed!).
8. Then you will see them scribbling and making notes on your applicant form. At the same time, they will ask you to give your BEST SMILE for them to see. Remember to smile with an open smile, with your teeth showing… like this ->
9. After all that, you can relax yourself now because you have done proving yourself for the first day. You will then be led to a waiting room to wait for results on whether or not you made it to the Final Interview.
10. Group by group of people will be called to the front and to be told if the whole group has made it or not.
11. If you’ve made it, congratulations is what she will tell you
And you will be told when is the final interview (usually the next day, provided that you are one of the early birds)!
.

.
DAY 02
1. Final Interview. Super important. Very nervous you will be. Remember to take your breakfast because you will need it. You won’t get to go home until after lunch.
2. You will need to register yourself first and you will again be given another new number and it has to be stick on your left.
3. Then you will be led to a room with more than 10 interviewers sitting facing you and the other finalists (so don’t worry cause you won’t be alone).
4. First activity will be “Introducing Your Partner”. They will randomly pair you up with someone else (so talk to the neighbours around you- including the one sitting behind you!) and you will ONLY be given 3 MINUTES to get to know each other! You will need to gather as much information about each other and then later present it to the interviewers. You will take turn with your partner to introduce each other. Once the 3 minutes is over, they will ask for volunteers to be the first pair to present (usually the first pair will get bonus marks). Here’s the tips: don’t worry at all if you can’t remember your partner’s information.. cause what they care about is HOW you present and HOW you speak and talk in front of everyone.. in case of SOS, just cincai think of something random like “her favourite tourism spot is Pulau Redang because she loves the sun and beaches” or “I really like her smile as it cheers me up and she has such a beautiful pair of eyes, they twinkle whenever I look at them”. LOL! But these are just some suggestions here.. cause for me it’s not like they will find out that you’re lying because these information are not written in the resume/application form. Oh and don’t forget to MENTION your NUMBER and also your partner’s number before you start introducing or you will lose marks (mention numbers after greetings and before introducing).
5. Second activity: you will be divided into a group of about 7 or 8 people. You guys will then be asked to think of a performance for the interviewers and it must be related to AA. You guys can choose to sing a song with the lyrics amended to be related to AA, or act out a sketch (usually people like to act about a situation on board where the cabin crews are flying with some troublesome passengers and how they solve the problems), or you can even dance.. it’s all up to you, no limits! As long as it is related to AA!
p/s: the song “I Believe I Can Fly” is banned already because it’s overused.
6. IMPORTANT: The reason why they are doing this second activity is because they want to see how you interact with group members and if you are contributing to the performance. SO TALK MORE! STEAL TALK!! TALK TALK TALK!! Some people will only open their mouth when they see the interviewers are looking but they are so wrong! The interviewers are super alert! Even with their backs facing you, they are actually paying attention to you! SO TALK WHENEVER! Contribute and give some ideas.. say it even if it’s a bad idea.. as long as you are talking! (but becareful not to cut in when someone else is still talking or you will be classified as rude).
7. Third and final activity: Face-to-face interview!!! THE FINAL CHANCE TO PROVE YOURSELF! You will be asked to go in 2 by 2 to meet with 2 interviewers and they will ask you questions one by one. Remember to sit up straight and be alert. Don’t cross your legs or appear to be too relaxed. Don’t play with your hair or fingers.. and don’t ever cross your arms! SMILEEEEEEEEEEEEE AT YOUR BEST!! Your final chance already ok!
During the final interview, these are the questions that they will normally ask (no guarantee!):
- Why do you want this job?
- Why should we hire you?
- Tell us something interesting about yourself.
- Have you flown with us before? To where? And what do you think of our inflight services?
- If you are selected how would you contribute to make inflight service better?
- What qualities do you possess that would make you an ideal stewardess?
- Tell us about your hobbies?
- Tell us about your current or your previous job?
- Name one type of aircraft we have?
- If you are a stewardess on a flight, what actions would you take if a passenger faints?
- What would you have done if you spilled drinks onto a passenger?
- How quick are you able to leave your present job if we want to employ you?
- How well prepared are you for this interview? Did you google about us before coming to this interview? (if you say yes then they will ask you about your findings)
- What awards did we get in 2009?
.

.
Extra tips:
1. Ladies with long hair, let down your hair!!
Don’t tie it in a pony tail.. They like it that way.. (that’s what the interviewer told me). And rumour has it that they actually like people who dye their hair brown!
2. Make up is a must for ladies. So put on more colours onto your face. More blusher!
3. Wear skin coloured pantyhose. Avoid black as they need to check your legs for scars.
4. Be there earlier. Best to arrive between 8am to 8.30am. Grab the chance to meet the interviewers while they are still fresh and in good mood!
5. Remember to bring your own pen, all the original and photostated required certs and IC, photographs (passport sized and full-body)!
6. Take your breakfast before you go for the interviews!! You need all the stamina and energy! God knows till when you will need to be there until! Better yet, keep some light food in your bag.. like a chocolates or bread.. and water!
7. Wear a watch! Show them that you are good with the time-management and you are always punctual.
8. Be confident and speak clearly! Talk to the people sitting beside you (they are actually eyeing you at all times even when you are least expecting it). Show them you are friendly and good in making friends.
9. And lastly, SMILE SMILE SMILE and TALK MORE!
.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE GOING!!
